Give each file the time it needs.
The local edition is being prepared for the Chrome Web Store. Google sign-in and live-account testing are still being completed. This website has no login; the extension will ask Google for permission to work with selected files.
Start a local timer
- Open Doc Egg Timer in the Chrome profile where you want timers to run and select “Connect Google Drive”.
- Create a Google Doc, Sheet, Slide deck or Drawing, or select “Choose or upload an existing file”.
- Choose one hour, one day, one week or thirty days. For an existing file, check its name in the extension and confirm the timer. Nothing is scheduled before that confirmation.
Use a CSV in Google Sheets
Start a timer for the CSV, then choose “Open as linked Google Sheet” on its timer. The extension creates the Sheet directly through Google and saves both file IDs under the same expiry locally. Conversion supports CSVs up to 10 MB. Google Drive’s separate “Open with Google Sheets” control does not automatically link its copy.
Uploads into Drive
When the extension detects a completed drag-and-drop upload, its prompt offers a duration or “Don’t auto-delete”. Continuing opens local confirmation. If access is needed, choose the uploaded file in Google’s own picker using the connected account, then confirm it in Doc Egg Timer.
Chrome must be running
Timers are stored in this Chrome profile. The extension checks due files about once a minute while Chrome is running, with additional checks on startup. Chrome may delay checks. If your computer is off or asleep, Chrome is fully closed, or you are offline, files stay in Drive until Chrome runs online again and cleanup succeeds. Permission changes or a queue of due files can also cause delays. The countdown is an expiry target, not an exact deletion guarantee.
Cancel, disconnect or uninstall
“Cancel timer” stops future cleanup for the timer and all linked files. It does not restore files already in Trash or remove their name prefix. “Disconnect and stop local timers” clears timer records and cached sign-in in this profile. Removing the extension also stops local cleanup. For complete removal of Google permission, use your Google account’s third-party connections settings.
Keep your records safe
There is no server backup or cross-device timer sync. Clearing extension data, removing the Chrome profile or uninstalling can permanently remove the timer records. Your Google Drive files remain in Drive. The website and developer cannot recover local records.
If something fails
Use the connected Google account, reconnect if requested, and check the visible timer error. An interrupted creation or conversion is not blindly repeated: the extension looks for the exact operation result first, to avoid duplicate or unrelated files. Retry the timer or cancel it if you no longer want cleanup.
